If you’re looking for an opportunity to can kick your career into overdrive, you’ve come to the right place. These Chicago tech companies are hiring in a big way, and they’d love to have a look at your resume.

 

What they do: Groupon’s on-demand marketplace connects consumers with local merchants offering deals on products and experiences. To do so efficiently, the company’s engineers stay on the cutting edge of mobile technologies, data science and machine learning.

Sweet perks: Groupon’s team enjoys flexible hours and a comprehensive benefits package that includes a 401(k), an employee stock purchase program, and health, life and disability insurance. The company also offers a paid leave program for new parents and an on-site cafĂ©.

What they look for: “Groupon’s massive mobile marketplace helps connect people with the best things to do, see, eat and buy in their community,” said Varun Sood, senior manager of software engineering in Chicago. "If you have a passion for local discovery, and want to learn the mechanics of scale, there’s no better place than a company with more than 48 million customers and 150 million app downloads.”

 

What they do: One of Chicago’s biggest tech employers, Trustwave works with companies to protect data and prevent cybercrime. In addition to a range of security products, the company offers consulting services and conducts independent security research, penetration testing and forensics through its SpiderLabs team.

Sweet perks: On top of a paid certification program and a matching 401(k), Trustwave’s employees get a comprehensive insurance package. The company also offers a flexible work schedule and a Divvy bike program.

What they do: Vail streamlines correspondence between major corporations and their consumers with communication solutions that combine telephony with browser-based messaging and mobile applications.

What they do: SpotMe’s mobile app for live events makes it easier for hosts to provide attendees with marketing content and all the logistical information they need to navigate events. The app also has features for presentation interactivity, digital business card exchange and audience engagement analytics.

What they do: One of the world’s first e-commerce companies, Peapod delivers groceries in 24 markets across the Midwest and the East Coast. The company has 300 office-based employees in the Chicagoland area, and plans to move its headquarters downtown.

What they do: 5thColumn is a Chicago-based cybersecurity company whose software suite helps customers detect threats, analyze them and take steps toward mitigation and remediation.

What they do: A national IT management consulting firm, CapTech partners with businesses to integrate technology into their operations. CapTech’s consultants provide tools for customer engagement and data analytics, as well as custom IT solutions.
